Taylor Jackson is an internationally Renowned Wedding Photographer and Educator with over 15 years of experience. Taylor has photographed over 1000 weddings, has been published in more than 40 different wedding and photography magazines, and has taught tens of thousands of photographers from all around the world how to become better photographers.

Absolutely. The conference is designed for all levels of photographers. There will be opportunities to interact one-on-one with the mentors who will also be able to tailor things for your skill level.
We are also offering an additional full day course for beginners on Monday September 25 hosted by David Alan Graham, a multiple award winner photographer from Sarasota, FL with over 30 years of experience. David’s 6 hour course offers Intro to Wedding Photography, Understanding Wedding Photography Styles and Techniques, Preparing for a Wedding Shoot, Capturing Wedding Day Details, Documenting the Ceremony and Photographing the Reception. This course is priced at $200 CAD, please purchase your ticket here.
Most definitely. There is no better opportunity to build your portfolio, you will receive 4 mentored workshops, 5 different shoot locations will take place during sunrise, afternoon and sunset modeled by multiple unique couples with stylized sets. Each mentor has a unique style and will push you out of your comfort zone to try new things. There will be a lot of diversity and variety.
Yes! We are offering classroom workshops in the morning where each mentor will share their wisdom. Nicole Ashley’s topic is focused on posing. Two Mann’s topic is about keeping a creative mindset. Fer will share his own take on creating art outside of the typical wedding shots. You will have time with each mentor during your portfolio shooting sessions. Your group of 15 will rotate through each Mentor's workshop. You will have 2 workshops each day in order to learn from all 4 Mentors.
The 60 photographer attendees will be divided into groups of 15 and each group will work with a different mentor at each workshop. So 15 people will be working with each mentor at a time. Each photographer will get their own allotted time to shoot the models. A Focal staff member will be joining you in your groups and monitoring the time so that each photographer has a fair amount of time to nail down their shots.
The best way to get to Banff is to take a the Airport Shuttle Express direct from the airport to our hotel, we are taking care of the transportation once you get there! If you are planning on sticking around to check out the sites then we recommend renting a car. You can do this at the airport. Each car that enters Banff National Park needs to purchase a Banff Permit. This permit can either be purchased when entering the park, or online.
If you purchased the Intro to Wedding Photography package for Monday September 25th, then you get to start your fun early at breakfast at 9:00 am at the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity. (See Is the conference good for beginners? Above if you are interested in this add-on option offered by David Alan Graham)
If NAC is when your journey begins then your Breakfast will kick off on September 26th at 8am. Afternoon workshops will wrap up by 8pm. Optional social events are arranged for both NAC evenings.
We recommend arriving on September 25th, where we'll be hosting a hang-out at Banff Ave Brewing Co from 6:30 - 8:00 pm
