Are you a social media whiz? Have a passion for growing a brand and creating killer content that provides value? Love photography? Let's talk!
We're hiring a Communications Development Lead to join our growing Focal team. Together, we'll develop Focal's reputation as a leading choice for customers to hire a photographer and a strong champion of artists and creatives looking to grow their photography business.
This is a full-time, contract position (35-40 hours/week). Co-op students are welcome. The role starts September 6, 2021 and continues until December 19th, 2021 with a possibility of extension thereafter.
The goal and responsibility of the Communications Development Lead is to build Focal's brand through social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), traditional media (blog coverage, podcast interviews, etc.), and new opportunities.
Write, Research, and Create Amazing Content: Develop infographics, blog posts, short-form captions, videos, etc. that create value for the Focal audience. (Editing, designing, and publishing privileges through Focal’s Webflow CMS.)
Brand-Building: Grow the Focal brand across its various social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and LinkedIn). Understand key audience segments and speak to them.
Marketing Campaigns: Design, manage, and execute marketing campaigns with the objective of growing audiences and recruiting new photographers to the Focal Marketplace, Focal’s Business Accelerator program, and Focal’s suite of photographer tools.
Social Media: You have a passion and knack for social media and brand-building. You get a buzz from coming up with Instagram stories and reels and know your way around each platform’s nuances. You’re up-to-date on the latest algorithm changes and always looking for ways to tell a story. You’ve got a proven record of growing a personal or commercial/not-for-profit audience -- and if you haven’t explored a platform before, you’re eager to learn.
Writing: You’re an excellent writer. You know the difference between a run-on sentence and a sentence fragment. You know how to distill a story and make it clear, concise, and engaging.
Initiative: You’re a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
Some familiarity with graphic design and video-editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) is not required, but would be considered an asset.
